The Best Father’s Day Gift I Can Think Of
June 19th, 2026
The older I get, the more I realize that the things I remember most aren't things at all.
They're moments.
A conversation that lasted longer than expected. A sunset you didn't rush through. A shared experience that somehow becomes a story retold for years afterward.
Father's Day has a funny way of making us search for the "perfect" gift. We wander through stores, scroll online, and try to find something meaningful enough for someone who has spent so much of their life showing up for us.
But most dads don't need another thing.
What they rarely get is uninterrupted time.
A few hours where nobody is checking emails. No errands need to be run. No television is competing for attention.
Just time together.
One of my favorite things about being on the water is how quickly the rest of the world seems to fade away. The city skyline begins to glow. The sails fill with the evening breeze. The sun slowly drops toward the horizon, painting the river in shades of gold and orange.
People settle in. Conversations slow down. Sometimes the best part of a sail isn't the sailing at all.
It's hearing Dad tell a story you've somehow never heard before. It's laughing about something that happened twenty years ago.
It's sitting side by side, drink in hand, watching the sun set over Detroit, comfortable in the kind of silence that only exists between people who know each other well.
Those are the things we remember.
This Father's Day, join us aboard a Santa Cruz 70 for an unforgettable sunset sail on the Detroit River from 6:30 PM – 9:30 PM.
Whether your dad is a lifelong sailor or has never stepped aboard a boat before, the invitation is simple:
Come spend a few hours together.
The sunset, the river, and the city will take care of the rest.
